Acute Respiratory Infections (RTI) are among the most common illnesses world-wide and as nurses who often provide support to families with RTIs, it is essential that we are providing sound advice and are able to recognise the child that requires extra supportive measures.
Current guidelines on the treatment and management of RTIs in children include supportive management such as hydration and rest. Over-the-counter (OTC) medications such as analgesics and cough medications may reduce the severity of symptoms, but they do not cure or prevent the illness.
In this session, you will:
- Outline the most common respiratory conditions, Croup, Bronchiolitis & Asthma.
- Cover the epidemiology of each condition
- Outline assessment of each condition
- Outline the treatment of each condition
This learning activity is one hour in duration. 1 hour of active learning = 1 CPD hour
You will receive a certificate after completing a short quiz to use in your professional development portfolio.
